Pass rush is chess not checkers
The first time I got sacks on back to back plays I used strategy to do so.
Rush #1
It was 2nd and 10 so there was a high chance of pass.
And the tackle didn't have great feet. I could definitely beat him off the edge.
So, I threatened him with a jab step to get him to stop kicking and then used the side scissors to swipe away his hands so he couldn't recover.
That's sack #1
Rush #2
Now it's 3rd and 15. The only options here for the offense are pass or screen.
I knew the tackle would overset and turn his hips because I already beat him outside and he didn't want to get beat again. Unfortunately for him this would open up his inside and make it much easier for me to spin.
So I "sold speed", chopped, ice picked and executed a vicious spin that worked perfectly.
That's sack #2
Have a plan
Your opponent won't just let you win. You need to have a plan to exploit his weaknesses. I assure you the more you become a student of the game the more you're going to be dancing like me (hopefully better) after you get back to back sacks.
